Read “psychology at the cinema” reviews in sketch book.
I actually spent the rest of the day trying to get Reading materials, turns out that although you can purchase ebooks on iTunes, you can only read them on the ipad, when i finally found a way to open the file, it was all in code (basic, i think). Amazon wouldn’t let me download it, and the library didn’t have it.
After lunch we attended a talk from the RSA about their competition, i actually enjoyed the talk, the speaker explained who the RSA were and what they do, she explained what the competition is, what it’s for and how both the competitors and RSA benefit from the competition
One of the animation that we were shown was “Brene Brown on empathy”. This was an animation made for Brene Brown’s talk on empathy, although i like this animation I don’t think it will make me suggest any changes to our animation, as it already it has a few things in common with it, for example, the type of transitions it uses. On the other hand, i feel like its use of words in the animation really help to keep me focused on what the recording was saying, this might be something we should include in our animation, I’ll discuss this with my team.
Today was a full day of Lectures, this morning Yuan explained to us how to choose a topic for our dissertation/report, i felt like I didn’t have much time and first attempt was rushed as a followed along with Yuan so I’ve decided to try again, you can see this in my note book.
Looking at the titles and idea’s I had for a report, I feel like my own personal fears about my future maybe interfering with my work, however, one idea I had that really interested me from an intellectual stand point was, can psychology be used in animation, and if it can, how? Now I’m not interested in what effect animation has on people psychologically but rather, can it be used to cause and effect, can it be used with intent. This is what I’m interested in, what a the techniques used to put messages into the minds of the viewers
returning to animate the paper fortune teller, I watch a few origami animation to examine how the folding was handled, a lot of the time the folding tended to be very fast and with the models being rotated a lot, the direction of the rotation depending on the fold. I liked this and thought it made sense as origami can seem a bit confusing and bewildering when preformed by someone who has mastered it, plus if the transformation are fast it leaves more time for animation that tells the story.
unfortunately when I tried animating the paper fortune teller, I realised that I had messed up. I had missed a step when making it the first time, thus the some the folds were folded in the wrong direction.
making one of these is much easier to do with paper, rather than a digital model as the polygons tend to clip through each other, making it really hard not to pull the wrong face or vertex, I tried multiple methods to make it easier for me to model but they all made it more complicated, even when i made the model transparent it was still easy to get confused at times.

trying to help Niall with previs, I’ve grabbed all of the construction sight assets brought them in to the one scene laying the out like in the concept art.
unfortunately I forgot to hit the start button on my auto screen cap to this post dosen’t have any images of me placing the objects.
